The urban realm refers to the way we perceive the built environment. It describes the character of a place that results from the buildings, or infrastructure, that define that place, or space.

The built environment, whether for living, working, transport or the provision of services, revolves around people. People provide the heart of any development and are a prerequisite for achieving social cohesion, which ultimately benefits society.

We believe that designers needs to consider every aspect of the urban realm. Not only the spaces created by a development but also those in-between and ‘left over’ spaces.

It is this desire to make things better that continues to inform our studies for improving the urban realm, from new urban parks and agro-forests to re-establishing the urban grain of town centres.
